Missions
St. Andrew’s Church is a missionary-minded church
We have an active Missions Committee which coordinates the efforts of the congregation in spreading the gospel and alleviating human suffering in the following ways:
- projects endorsed by the national church and many local and international projects that the congregation has chosen
- respond to assist people affected by natural disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, famine and so on
- support missionaries working in translating the Bible so that all might have access to the word of God in their own language
We also support many local, regional, national and International ministries:
- the printing of devotional literature, such as the Daily Bread
- ministry on university campuses
- Durham Outlook for the Needy
- The Refuge, Sleeping Children Around the World
- Boarding Homes Ministries
- inner-city ministries assisting the needy
- and other local regional and national ministries of compassion
One of the highlights of our mission work is our involvement in:
- the ‘Food Hamper’ program and
- Operation Christmas Child – every year we send out hundreds of shoe boxes filled with toys for underprivileged children around the world
In addition to all of the above, we contribute to the work of the Presbyterian Church in Canada through our gifts to Presbyterians Sharing and Presbyterian World Service and Development.
