September 3, 2017 Announcements

Welcome to all! Welcome to worship! We trust you are encouraged by your time here this morning. Please stay for refreshments and conversation after the service. In the foyer, you’ll find our Welcome Centre with info about our church, and a visitor card for you to fill out and leave with us, so we can connect with you. May God's blessings overflow to all of us today, as we join in praising Him.

Kids’ Sunday Programs are downstairs: Ages 0-3: Nursery open all morning. Sunday School Kids (ages 4-12) leave the worship service after the praise set - there will be a cue! Our summer Sunday School will meet in Room 3 for learning and fun, and then return to their parents for the Church Family benediction at the end of worship. Feel free to join your child downstairs to see what fun we are having! Please note that our regular Sunday School program will start up on Sunday, September 10th!

Assistive Listening System: We now have a ListenTech listening system available for those with hearing challenges. A small receiver is worn around the neck, and each receiver has an earpiece or headphone. This system is easy to use and is effective in amplifying sound for the user. Please feel welcome to pick-up a receiver/earpiece from the table at the Sanctuary entrance, and please ensure it is returned after the service. If you have any questions, please speak with Brian M.

A Worship Minute: "Many Spirit-filled authors have exhausted the thesaurus in order to describe God with the glory He deserves. His perfect holiness, by definition, assures us that our words can’t contain Him. Isn’t it a comfort to worship a God we cannot exaggerate?"Francis Chan

DISTRIBUTION for our “back-to-school” program has finished! We distributed many backpacks at our last Community Outreach food bank. We thank you for all your support.

EMPTY CEREAL BOXES NEEDED! Please give us your empty boxes, as we need to make the Books of the Bible for our Sunday School Program this September. Please bring in your boxes asap — thank you!

SEPTEMBER PRAYER CALENDARS are now available for pick-up from the Narthex table! Please join us in praying for each other and for our church family!

Have you been WALKING WITH JESUS? Of course you have! We are looking forward to seeing pictures of all of us (the whole Church Family, young and old[er]) walking with Jesus. Please pick up a picture of “Flat Jesus” from the table in the Narthex, and take a photo of you and Jesus doing something you enjoy; then, email your picture to the church office at standrewswhitby@bellnet.ca, or text them to Kate. This is an opportunity to connect with grandkids (your family grandkids and your church grandkids) or friends - Just tell them you traveled with “Flat Jesus,” and they will want to know more! (Most students have read the book “Flat Stanley.”) We will share our pics at our Church Family Reunion BBQ – It will be fun and encouraging to see how all of us Walk with Jesus.

“BLACKBERRIES for BACKPACKS!” Thelma J. has a bumper crop of blackberries, some of which she will be making available after the service today in the church Hall. A donation for the berries would be much appreciated. 100% of all donations will go towards our back-to-school backpack program.

Praise Team Practices Begin September 7th @ 7:00 pm: Do you like to sing? Do you like to praise your God? Do you enjoy the fellowship of others? Then consider joining St. Andrew’s Praise Team and using your talents as we lead our congregation in corporate singing in our services on Sunday morning. We practice on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm. For further information contact Brian M.

Opportunities to Use Your Gifts and Talents: Prayerfully consider this list: reading scripture, delivering the welcome and announcements at the start of a service, leading a prayer, using a musical talent during a service, preparing and/or delivering a short call to worship. If you would like to explore participating in our services contact Brian M. If you would like to develop your abilities in one of these areas, talk to Brian. Support and encouragement are available!

CHURCH FAMILY REUNION SUNDAY (Rally Day) will be held on Sunday, September 17th, immediately following the church service, and there will be no coffee time on that day. We will conduct some games as the Social Committee prepares the BBQ lunch, and we will eat once the games have concluded. If you are interested in attending, please see the sign-up sheet on the Narthex table. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair!

BAZAAR DONATIONS needed for our “New-to-You” room! Please bring your donations in and leave them in Room 1, downstairs. (Please keep in mind that large pieces of furniture, appliances and clothing are not being accepted.) Thank you!

The DUTY ELDER for September is Paul S! Should you wish to pray or speak with the Duty Elder, please remain in your seat following worship, and the Duty Elder will come to you.
